Papum Pare Eco-Agro is an Agro pilot project with eco friendly system. The project is located at Sonajuli Village of Papum Pare district of A.P in Assam Arunachal border foothill about 35Km from Itanagar the Capital of Arunachal Pradesh.

The project is developed in 5 Kmx8 Km i.e 40.00 SqKm. The foothill portion about 5 Kmx3 Km i.e 15.00 SqKm is developed for agro activities as per type of land and beyond this the hill portion is preserved for wild life and eco activities.

In the agro portion following activities are organized in 15 SqKm:-

1. Tea plantation with processing factory.
2. Paddy cultivation.
3. Paddy cum Fish cultivation.
4. Integrated fish farming. This Project is supported and guided by CIFA (central Institute for Fresh Aqua Culture, Bhubneswar). Eminent Principle Scientist Dr. P. P. Chakroborty and Dr. B. C. Mahapatra have instrumental in developing this unique Fishery Project.
   1. Fish cum Piggery, Duckary, Poultry, Goatary.
   2. Fish hatchery plant for production of quality fish seeds.
5. Rubber Plantation with processing unit.
6. Orange plantation.
7. Lemon grass plantation with oil distillation plant.
8. Patchouli plantation with oil distillation plant.
9. Flowery culture cum Butterfly Park.
10. Honey rearing.
11. Dairy activities.
12. Other fruits orchards like, papayas guava, pine apple, pig and many other wild fruits.
13. And many other crops and organic vegetables.

In the eco portion following activities are organized.

1. Forest is fully protected and natural real Brahmaputra tropical rain forest is created.
2. Wild life is fully protected with local and endangered species.
3. 9km Jungle-Safari road is under operation .
4. There are facilities for hiking, tracking, climbing and picnic spots.
5. Facilities for animal, bird, butterfly and any other insects watching in their natural mood.

Finally it will come up as PP Eco-Agro Resort. The infrastructures development is initiated with following structures:-

• Main resort building. (Under Construction)
• Garden cottage.
• Forest cottage.
• Multipurpose indoor hall.
• Swimming pool (General)
• Football and Volley ball field.

The spot is ideally suited for Tourists, Researchers, Students, Scholars and field visit by entrepreneurs and very ideal for 3 to 5 days family/Group tour Packages.

MAIN MOTO OF PP ECO-AGRO PROJECT

This village was most backward rural village before this project came up till 1998. Being at Assam Arunachal border the area was infested with criminal activities due to poverty before 80’s. After 80’s this become shelter of underground groups but Now the area is quite peaceful because of this project as many of the unemployed local youth and misguided youth in past are now happily working as employees in this Project.

So the following are the Salient features of the aim & objective of the Project.

1. To develop village economy and provide employment oppurtunities to the rural and educated youths of the country. At present I could be able to employ about 300 People.
2. To create self employment for Village youth.
3. To develop interdependency between Assam-Arunachal people in the area and help in peaceful co-existence between people of two state and maintain social harmony to set example for other states.
4. To prevent rural population flow to the cities.
5. To show the eco friendly development to help climate change.
6. To demonstrate optimum and maximum land use.
7. To demonstrate village level participation in protection of Forest and environment.

Project Guides & Motivators

This Project has been tried to replicate Anna Hazare’s village Ralegan Siddhi where a strong bond of society with nature can be felt where every care is taken to preserve the Nature without hindering Normal development. Mindset started after seeing his works through a slide show in 1984 by Dr. Vinay Sahastrabudhe, a Social Worker Presently Hon’ble M.P. (Rajya Sabha) when I was a XIth standard student in Govt Higher Secondary School, Doimukh in Papum Pare Distt of Arunachal Pradesh.

Shri P B Acharya, Hon’ble Governer of Nagaland & Arunachal Pradesh has always been a source of inspiration and motivation. His sincere guidance and dedication since 1965 as Social worker for love and feel for uplift of entire North East people. I met him in 1980 and since then he has been inspiring me to do something and this resulted in establishment of this Pilot Project.
